ADULTS
You have three options regarding your citation:

Option 1 - ATTEND COURT
You may attend court on your assigned court date and time if you’d like to contest your citation. (If you are a minor, or if the officer indicated on your citation that you must appear, then you must appear in court. You are not eligible for Options 2 or 3.)

  • The judge will hear your case and enter a judgment.
  • Payment is due upon completion of your court appearance.

Option 2 - PAY CITATION
You can choose to pay your citation (fine + court costs) prior to court.

  • The total is due on or before your court date.

  • The citation will be reported to the state and points will be added to your motor vehicle record.

Click here to pay your citation.

Option 3 - DEFENSIVE DRIVING SCHOOL
You can choose to pay court costs prior to court and attend a defensive driving school.

PLEASE NOTE: Only moving violations are eligible for defensive driving school. If you have multiple violations on your citation which include non-moving violations such as financial responsibility, registration, driver license, light law, window tint, etc., those violations will need to be addressed either by showing proof of compliance or paying the fine for that violation(s).

  • COURT COSTS ARE $145.00 (EXCEPTION: The Hands-Free Law violation has a $10.00 court cost only) to attend defensive driving school and are due on or before your court date. Click here to pay court costs if you wish to attend a defensive driving school. (This is in addition to selecting a TDOS-Approved Defensive Driving School)
